When Microsoft released the Mac version of the Skype for Business 2015 client there was definitely much anticipation for the product. I’m sure there are others like myself run both the Windows version Skype for Business 2015 client and Mac Skype for Business 2015 client (on separate machines of course, and yes that means I have a Mac). One of the areas that I found myself looking for soon after the installation and getting signed on to the SFB Mac version was where the client logs would be located. Are they in the same location as the Lync 2011 Mac client version? Are they located someplace different?
On PC, UFIT supports Lync 2013, Skype for Business 2015 (Office 2013) and Skype for Business 2016 with at least the office updates from July 2016 installed. On Mac, UFIT supports Lync 2011 for Mac and Skype for Business Mac on the latest patch level. Skype for Business Mac Public Preview is rolling out in stages over the coming months. Compatible with Office 365, Skype for Business Server 2015, and Lync Server 2013. It’s finally here! Microsoft has at last released the new Mac client for Skype for Business. (Okay, it was released on October 26. But I was on vacation.) As soon as I saw the announcement, I grabbed a copy and one of our test Macs. The same Mac on which I’d tested the Skype Preview earlier in. Skype for Business on Mac Single Window mode (or tabbed conversations view) is supported for Office 365 and Skype for Business Server 2015 when server-side conversation history is turned on. Parallels Desktop is the easiest, fastest, and most tightly integrated app for running Windows apps or the Windows desktop in Apple OS X. Because Parallels for Mac uses hypervisor technology to map the host computer’s hardware resources directly to the virtual machine’s resources, the performance of Parallels for Mac virtual machines closely matches the performance of the host operating system. Parallels 11 is a polished virtualisation solution that allows Mac users to switch easily between OS X and Windows apps, regardless of which operating system they were written for. Parallels Desktop 14 has enhanced Windows and Mac integration, including support for the 2018 Fall update of Windows 10, Version 1809. It also includes improved maintenance features allowing you to schedule maintenance and keep working, even while downloading and installing system updates. Virtual machines can be configured so that they start automatically alongside macOS or whenever Parallels Desktop is launched. We tested the program on a MacBook Pro (late 2016) and the boot times of Parallels for Mac performed quite well, taking only 27 seconds to launch both Parallels and Windows 10. Meanwhile, directly clicking on a Windows-only file on the Mac system will speed up boot time to just 20 seconds, while it takes only 10 seconds if Parallels was already open. 
To begin with unlike the Windows Lync or Skype client that we are all familiar with, logging for the Mac client was already enabled. So let’s go to the next thing and that is once you have the Mac client installed.
Once the client is installed, go to Skype for Business and click on Preferences. The reason we are going here is find out the general tab information to see where the logs are going. For under the preferences section is where you would navigate for the previous Lync 2011 Mac client. Figure 1 Once we go to preferences, you will need to select the General Icon. Here you will see the option Collect and archive logs and the Collect Logs button.

Skype For Business Mac Updates

You can also see that each time you click on Collect logs a new zip file with updated logs will be created. Figure 3: SFB Mac log location In figure 4 we can expand the zip file and see logs that are located inside ready for us to begin troubleshooting. The SFBMAC.log file is the one you are going to be interested in, for that gives us details of client and server the communication. From this log file we will be able to see basically everything that the client is doing including the in band provisioning process which displays all the settings that pulled down to the client from the SFB server. Figure 4 Mac Skype for Business Client logs I have not seen a snooper version ready for us to read the logs like the Windows version so I had to read the logs through notepad, which can be very tedious to say the least.
