This adapter worked fine, for right about 2 years. Then, I started having mysterious connectivity and random unmounting of volumes issues with my 9 external drives. Finally, swapped out the 2 year old adapter with a fresh one I had bought from OWC as a spare, and all the issues evaporated.
Whether your Apple computer has a Mini DisplayPort or a Thunderbolt port, it should work just fine. Some of the supported models are MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and remember that only recent Mac models come with the needed port for this adapter. This unit is a Thunderbolt to HDMI, DVI, or VGA adapter that comes in a portable form factor. Only one of the three outputs can be used at a time but that’s to be expected. The adapter can be connected with ease to the Mini DisplayPort of your Mac computer or to a Microsoft Surface Pro or a ThinkPad X1.

The only free I/O I had on my iMac was the two TBolt ports, and even with a hub the USB 2.0 ports were going to make for tedious migration of data anyway. This little adapter allowed me to use one of the TBolt ports that I wasn't using for anything else, without buying an expensive new TBolt drive. It works great, and I'm very happy with the configuration it allows. I would recommend this item to a friend!
